THE PERFECT PORTION COOKBOOK is the first of its kind, to be released in February 2016, filled with 150 delicious comfort food classics. And they are recipes that you can eat “guilt free,” because each recipe has been crafted in multiples of 100 calories, so you can choose the perfect portion that is right for you.
Why Did We Do This?
It’s easy…WE LOVE FOOD! Especially homemade comfort food, with its wonderful aromas and tastes which satisfy our appetites and nourish our souls. But, it’s often hard to know how much we should be eating of the foods we love. AND when there is no easy way to know how many calories we are really eating, it’s so easy to unknowingly overeat.
Up until now there has been no easy way to create perfect personalized portion sizes, except for learning a complicated calorie-counting system.
So Here’s Our Idea!
Create a simple calorie-counting system that’s built right into every recipe; A system so easy that you can see the size and quantity of a 100-calorie portion. When you see the 100-calorie size, you can choose the number of units to include in your perfectly portioned meal or snack.
So whether you want 100, 200, 300, 400 or 500 calories, you can build the perfect portions and meals that’s right for you. Knowledge is power, so our goal is to provide you with a guide that keeps you in “check” to still eat the foods you love, yet be aware of the perfect portion that’s right for you!
Just as important as not making portion sizes difficult, we didn’t want to create “diet” food, or deprive you of small portions. Rather, we wanted to create recipes with old-fashioned comfort-food taste, PLUS healthy swaps, and taste-enhancing new ingredients to provide the best, satisfying recipes.
How Did We Do It?
With an experienced and great team! Anson Williams, best known for his role on Happy Days, had the 100-calorie idea, based on his own need to stay fit and still be able to eat the foods he loved. He contacted Bob Warden, New York Times best selling cookbook author and TV cooking personality, who partnered with Mona Dolgov, experienced nutritionist, cookbook author and marketer for the food and appliance industry.
What Were Our Goals?
To be able for you to eat the foods you love, without feeling compromised! We had the following in mind as we developed each recipe:
- Create great tasting recipes for 150 American favorite foods, each easily divisible into 100-calorie portions.
- Pay attention to portion sizes, making sure not to skimp, but rather enhance portions through healthful food swaps.
- Make realistic recommendations for portion sizes, adjustable by meal. Breakfast or dinner might be a 300-, 400- or 500-calorie portion, depending on your eating preferences.
- Provide a guide that will help you determine best food choices.
- Make WOW indulgent recipes, such as decadent desserts, in the 100- or 200-calorie range, so that you could satisfy your sweet tooth in a guilt-free way!
Now you can “have your cake and eat it too”. . .. literally! We will be posting new recipes every week, and in February you will be able to get the entire book. Nutritional Information
Because all Perfect Portion recipes are in 100 calories increments, no single nutritional label would be applicable for all recommended portions. We will do the math for you. We now have online the nutritional information for all 100 calorie portions along with recommended serving sizes of 200-, 300- and 400-calorie portions.
